Ununio Group's story

Ashura A. is in her early sixties and is widowed with two children. Six years ago she began selling firewood. She also sells coconuts which are used for making cooking oil. Her business is open daily between 7 am and 8 pm and earns Ashura a stable profit.

This will be her first loan with Kiva partner Tujijenge Tanzania. Ashura aims to increase her business capital with this loan. Her dream is to one day buy land.

Ashura will share this loan with her loan group Ununio, which totals 17 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for repaying the loan. In the picture, Ashura can be seen seated, second from the right wearing a blue top and red bottom.
