Jane O. is thirty one years old and married to a business man. They have two children, aged six and three, to whom they hope to give a good education to the university level. Her business is located at The Central Business District of Nairobi. She has a salon which provides hair and beauty services. She has been in this business for five years and has four employees. She says that her business is profitable but a major challenge is the number of other people in the area doing the same kind of business so customers are spoilt for choice. However, she works very hard from early morning to late evening to keep her business doing well. She is using her loan of Kes 50,000 to buy more hair weaves and chemicals to expand her business. In future, she hopes to open three more salons in different towns in Kenya. She describes herself as hard-working, committed to her work and outgoing.
