Cinthya Isabel's story

The Aníbal San Andrés Communal Bank meets every two weeks in Cantón Montecristi, the place famous for its straw hats and the birthplace of Eloy Alfaro, the “Old Warrior.”

Cinthya has been a member of the communal bank for 4 years and is very happy. She tells us that her favourite part is the meetings because she has a good time with her friends.

She is 23 years old, married and has a two-year-old child. Her husband works as a labourer. She is certified as an elementary school teacher.

She works as a teacher in a local school, and also sells Avon and Esika products (beauty products, perfume and women’s accessories). She works at the school in the morning, selling to her colleagues. In the afternoon she goes around Montecristo, selling on credit and collecting payments every one to two weeks.

She will use this loan to buy merchandise given that she has a lot of orders this month.

Her dream is to continue and to finish her degree.
