A loan of $625 helped buy clothing.

Betsy Lourdes's story

The Aníbal San Andrés loan group meets every fortnight in the Montecristi county, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its nationally and internationally recognized craftmanship, including the well-known straw hats.

Here we find Betsy. She is 23 years old, has been married for 8 years and has two girls aged 7 and 2. Her husband is a bricklayer.

She sells clothes in the Montecristi area and its outskirts. She also sells Avon products (beauty, perfumes and accessories for ladies). She works on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. She buys the clothing in Guayaquil and Ambato, both cities where she travels once a month depending on the orders received and sales made.

She is going to use the loan to buy merchandise in Guayaquil. She has been a member of the loan group for 5 years and likes it because she can get loans one after the other.

Her dream is to finish her house so her children have something for the future.
