A loan of $1,000 helped purchase equipment, a passenger compartment, and seats for her vehicle.

Grace Jazmin's story

Grace, age 20, works as a motorcycle taxi driver and also hauls merchandise. She lives in Playas canton, one of many tourist spots in Ecuador with a diverse variety of seafood.

Grace lives in a town on the edge of Playas called “Las Villas”. After she finished high school, she decided to become indpendent and earn her own income by becoming one of the first female motorcycle taxi drivers transporting passengers in Playas. Although men typically make up the majority of this profession, Grace continues to work as a motorcycle taxi driver because she earns enough income for her studies and it demonstrates that women can pursue whatever they want. She caters to students at the University and offers her services to passengers between the hours of 6am and 10pm.

With this loan, Grace will be able to buy equipment, a passenger compartment, and seats so that she can provide better service for her customers. In the future, she wants to have a small motorcycle business and acquire a house of her own.
