A loan of $1,100 helped purchase coffee seeds.

Teobaldo's story

Teobaldo is 42 years old and lives with Baseliza, who is 40 years old. They have five young children who they feed and educated in their own home, located in the Peruvian jungle in the native community center Pumpuriani.

Like a good farmer, he constantly travels to the Sankivironi community from Pumpuriani, where he has coffee fields. His coffee is called "Theobaldo's flagship product", and his 17 years of experience supports its success. He has eight hectares of coffee fields and his crops are very good. The main coffee growers recognize his quality, and because of this, he is contracted as the principle distributor to the the natural coffee factory in his area, "Montaña" [Mountain].

Teobaldo always has the necessary quantities for his buyers, however, he has problems moving to the different communities where he has to care for his crops. He is thinking about buying a house in the community of Sankivironi, where he will have more resources to care for his fields.

This is is fifth loan with MFP, and he is grateful to his community bank because they support him and have groups to subsidize some shortages in agriculture. With this loan, he will buy more coffee seeds and clear 2 hectares of arable land (by burning the fields to plant new crops) where he will plant bananas and corn.
