A loan of $800 helped for slash and burn field preparation and to plant corn.

Samuel's story

Samuel, 24, is a single farmer who was born in Santa Cruz; he is Isaac’s son.

For lack of economic resources he had to drop out of school because he didn’t have support from his parents. He decided to go into farming and he works alongside his brother, Limber. They plant corn, peanuts and manioc. They also extract lumber to be used in carpentry and they make charcoal during seasons that planting is impossible. But their main focus is on agriculture.

The money from the loan will be used to buy seed for their crops. The crops are then sold in El Torno’s market. They live 10 kilometers east of Santa Rita. They own and live in their house on their own piece of property.
