A loan of $725 helped to buy hybrid corn seed.

Dario's story

Darío, 62, is an ambitious, hard working man. He lives with Basiliza, 40. They have five minor children that they raise and educate in their own home located in the Peruvian jungle in an indigenous community in Centro Pumpuriani.

He has been a coffee, banana, corn and manioc (agricultural products) planter for 15 years. He constantly cares for and adds manure to his fields where he is always very satisfied at each harvest after so many months of hard work because the quality of his products brings good profits.

What he most enjoys about his work is being able to negotiate his crop sales because, according to him, he’s very good at sales.

Thanks to his communal bank he was able to obtain many things and optimize his time; he was able to hire laborers to help him in his fields.

In the future he’d like to open a small grocery store to increase income.

This is his 5th loan with MFP. He likes the work he does with his communal bank because it helps him increase production through the training sessions and the financial help.

Darío plans to use the requested funds to buy hybrid corn seed that he will plant in his new hectares of planting soil which he prepared a few days ago (using a slash and burn technique for new planting).
