A loan of $725 helped purchase a motor that would allow her to pump water from the subsoil.

Maria Dominga's story

María is 54 years old and a mother. She lives with her husband in the Santa Clara hamlet of the Pitipo District, an agricultural area which is located in the province of Ferrenafe, about an hour away from the city of Chiclayo.

Maria has worked in agriculture alongside with her husband for over fifteen years. Together they manage a small parcel of cultivations where usually a few grains and vegetables grow. They also have a small group of cows from which they get their milk from. With these earnings, they have been able to support their children, the majority of whom are now independent.

Maria wishes to acquire a motor that would allow her to pump water from the subsoil in order to be able to water her cultivations during the dry season. Before, she used to rent one from her neighbor which proved to increase her costs. As such, she has decided to make this investment so that she can work more effectively. In order to achieve her goal, she felt it was necessary to seek out a loan of 2000 soles for the first time from Edpyme Alternativa. Maria is hard-working and dedicated to her family. Those in the area that know her, consider her an honest and trustworthy woman.
