Espiranza's story

Espiranza C. is from the village of Centro 2, San Guillermo, Isabela. She is 28 years old. Espiranza is married and has 2 school-aged children. To make a living, Espiranza sells home products such as kitchen supplies, slippers, & other products to local community members. Espiranza has been engaged in her business for over 6 years and earns approximately 6200 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2009, Espiranza joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and her ability to engage in business activities. Espiranza has successfully repaid a previous loan of 10000 PHP from ASKI. This previous loan was used to purchase additional inventory & working capital. Espiranza is requesting a new loan of 15000 PHP which will be used to purchase new items to expand her product offering. This will be the 3rd loan taken out by Espiranza from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand her business.

ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 29 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly of farmers, fisherfolks and small entrepreneurs.
