A loan of $375 helped to purchase additional supplies for producing chicha.

Maria Lidia's story

Maria is a 31-year-old single woman with no children. She lives in Sialupe Baca near the city of Lambayeque, a region which is characterized by agriculture, specifically the raising of livestock.

For the past five years, Maria has made a living by producing and selling chicha out of her home. Chicha is a traditional Peruvian beverage made of corn that is consumed during ancestral ceremonies. Many people who live in rural areas drink it during parties and before starting their chores since they believe it provides strength and energy. Maira prepares chicha in her home and offers it for sale to her neighbors. In addition to producing chicha, Maria also sells beer. She has a dedicated and loyal clientele as a result of her level of service and her good product.

Maria wants to use this loan to purchase additional supplies for producing chicha and expanding her beer selection. In this manner, she hopes to increase her income and meet the demand of her clients.

Maria doesn’t have any other active loans and has good references from her neighbors. She is a responsible and respected member of the community.
