Merlyn's story

Merlyn G., from the village of Panalsalan, is 39 years old, married, and has two grown children. To make a living, Merlyn has been planting and harvesting fruits and vegetables for sale for over six years, earning approximately 10,000 PHP a month.

In 2004, Merlyn joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having repaid her previous loan of 20,000 PHP from PMPC that was used to invest in expanding the business, she is now requesting her ninth loan for 50000 PHP to pay for services to increase crop yield. Merlyn plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
