A loan of $1,100 helped to buy foodstuffs and two blenders.

Angela's story

The “Salud y Vida” (Health & Life) communal bank meets every two weeks in the city of Charapoto. This city is known for its traditional culture and for being near the two best beaches in the province: San Jacinto and San Clemente.

Angela is a founding member of the communal bank and has been in it for about 13 years and hopes to continue with it for many more years. She has always enjoyed the way the institution operates. She is 54 years old and in a common law relationship. She has two children both of whom are adults but her younger daughter lives with her. Her husband is a driver.

She has a small eatery in a locale that belongs to her mother-in-law that she uses rent-free. She is open for business every day from 5am until 2pm. Her daughter helps her. She says that she’s been in this for several years now and thanks to God has done well.

This loan will be used to buy products she uses to prepare her meals. She also wants to buy two blenders to sell blended fruit beverages.

Her dreams are to have her own locale and a larger restaurant.
