A loan of $375 helped to buy bags of fertilizer.

Mateo's story

Mateo is 41 years old, a happy, hard-working man. He lives in his own home with his wife Antonia (41 years old) and their 3 small children. He wishes to offer these children a better quality of life. Mateo grows peas and potatoes, and he has worked hard to do so. After harvesting, he takes them to sell in Tarma’s wholesale market. What he likes most is to plant crops, for he knows that his family’s well-being depends on it. He has been a farmer for 23 years, and finds that the hardest part is to protect his crops from abrupt changes in weather, for this strongly affects his productivity. In the future, he wishes to continue his hard work and improve his plantings. This is his fifth loan with MFP, and he knows that the support will be advantageous in helping him grow his business. He is a responsible member of his communal bank, for which reason he is highly respected. With the thousand new soles he is requesting, he will buy fertilizer to improve his crops.
