A loan of $1,500 helped a member to begin selling fruits and vegetables in his shop.

Mkwalia Group's story

Shukuru Ally, in his early thirties, is married and has two children. Three years ago, Shukuru started a food shop which he operates from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, earning him a stable monthly profit.

This will be Shukuru's second Motisha loan with Tujijenge Tanzania. A Motisha loan is a product offered by Tujijenge Tanzania that allows borrowers with good credit ratings to pay back their original loans faster and receive extra money before their original loan term has ended. Shukuru's previous loan, which he has since repaid, was used to increase his business capital. He plans to use this loan to begin selling fruits and vegetables in his shop.

Shukuru will share this loan with his loan group Mkwalia, which totals six members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for repaying the loans.
