Chinikul's story

Chinikul K., a 57-year-old pensioner, lives in At-Bashy village in the mountainous area of Kyrgyzstan. She is married and has six grown children, five of whom live on their own, while the youngest son, in accordance with Kyrgyz national tradition, lives with her and helps with the household. Chinikul and her husband Beyshenaly have been married for over 40 years and support each other.

Chinikul has been engaged in cattle breeding most of her life, and her experience and hardworking personality have enabled her to maintain a successful farm and enlarge her number of cattle. Today she has eight horses and eight cows and sheep which were obtained with her first loan, which was repaid without any delays. She plans to use this loan of 100,000 KGS to broaden her number of cattle for fattening and reselling. In the future, Chinikul plans to renovate her house and hold her son’s wedding.
