Elsa's story

Elsa B. is from the village of Colupan Alto, Sinacaban. She is 63 years old. Elsa is widowed and has seven adult children. To make a living, Elsa owns and operates a business venture in the agriculture sector raising crops. The main source of income for the business comes from planting and harvesting corn for sale. Elsa has been engaged in her business for over 30 years and earns approximately 5,000 Philippines (PHP) a month from it.

In 2005, Elsa joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Elsa has successfully repaid a previous loan of 3,000 PHP from PMPC. This previous loan was used to purchase fertilizers such as manure.

Elsa is requesting a new loan of 11,000 PHP, which will also be used to purchase fertilizers such as manure. This will be the eighth loan taken out by Elsa from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to save as a reserve for future emergencies.
