A loan of $200 helped to buy supplies to grow her business of preparing and selling liquor.

Santos Cristina's story

Santos Cristina is the mother of a family, 58 years of age, who resides with her family in a rural zone of the agricultural district of TambogranD., a zone that produces principally mango and lemons in order to export them to diverse foreign countries. It belongs to the province of Piura and is located in the region of the same name, more than 3 and a half hours from the city of Chiclayo, capital of the Lambayeque region.

She is dedicated to the preparation and sale of jora liquor (a typical beverage of the country that has been maD. since remote times from a base of a special type of cornflour). She prepares this beverage in her residence and offers it for sale two times a week. With the income that she earns from her sales, she helps her husband with the family expenses. Additionally she prepares and sells food during the entire week. The business is well received, since this beverage is often consumed in the zone, especially at diverse celebrations and festivities. Likewise, the workers from the place consume it before starting their activities since they believe that the beverage offers them energy and vigor.

Santos would like to acquire more ingredients and supplies such as jora flour, sugar and firewood to continue preparing this beverage and to increase her sales. Because of this, she has requested her first loan from Edpyme Alternative; a loan of 500 new soles that will permit her to achieve her goals.

Santos is a hard-working woman and cares for her family. Her greatest wish is to see her children progress and to offer her family a better quality of life.
