Delia Hermelinda's story

Delia is a member of the community bank named "The Swan". She lives in the community of San Miguel in the region of Parroquia Del Valle. The population is made up of farmers and agriculturists whose products are used for both personal consumption and for sale. Much of the population has emigrated in search for better a better future for their families. Delia is 42 years old. She is married and she has 2 children. The eldest is 4 years old and the youngest is only 7 months old. Her husband is a heavy machinery operator and together they have built their own house. Delia works in a small store that she has had for more than 15 years. She works from 7 in the morning until 8 in the evening, 7 days a week. She also raises chickens and she has a cow. She has been a member of the community bank for the past 8 years and the loans she has received have greatly benefited her business. This loan will be invested in the purchase of grocery items to stock her store, such as: rice, sugar, cookies, etc. Her greatest dream is to remain healthy enough to keep working, as she has to date.
