Flor is one of the members of La Nueva Esperanza 1, 3, y 6 (New Hope 1, 3, and 6). They are micro-entrepreneurs dedicated to selling clothing, natural goods, shoes, education, etc. in the city of San Pedro de Macoris, which is famous for its athletes and sugar industry. At present, its economy depends on the duty-free industrial zones, the cement industry, and other minor activities like tourism. This member is the mother of two children. Four years after receiving her first loan, she is receiving her ninth loan. In each loan, she has made her payments on time and has made good investments. Together with her husband, she has been able to provide necessities for her family. Flor is planning to invest her new loan to purchase new clothes for men, women, and children. She is going to use her earnings to save and continue providing the necessities for her home. By saving regularly, she will be able to build a home. Her favorite activity is studying. The most difficult part of her work is collecting money from people who have bought products on credit. Her dream is to graduate as a computer engineer while pursuing her business and to be able to pay for her college education.
