Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $600 helped planting corn and peanuts.

Fortunato's story

Fortunado was born on October 14th in Florida in the Cordillera province. He and his wife Sabina have four children who study and help him with planting and harvesting his potatoes. For 20 years he has lived in Villa Florida which is located 11 kilometers from the San Luis highway. He works as a farmer and a cattle rancher. He has 48 hectacres of land which were awarded to him through agrarian reform, but it is currently being drained by the INRA (National Institute of Agrian Reform). The loan money will be used to plant corn and peanuts, as well as to prepare the land before the planting. He is very thankful for the support.
