The “LOS EMPRENDEDORES D. LAS LOMAS” (The Las Lomas Entrepreneurs) communal bank has 9 enthusiastic, hard working members who are retailers for the most part. They have collaborated with EDAPROSPO-Prosperidad for the last 9 years.

Martha is a group member who also has taken on the function of Treasurer for the last four months. She is 57 years old, married and has four children three of whom still live with her.

Martha has had a school called, Alfonso Sagardia Marillas, in her home for the last 8 years. She started this business because she wanted to proviD. a better quality education to children. She tells us that she started out with just 12 students in a wooden house. With her work’s labor she has managed to improve education, the school’s infrastructure and her quality of life.

The current loan will be used to improve the school’s infrastructure.

Our members are very grateful for the support received and commit to pay their installments on time.

Martha es una socia del grupo y a su vez asume el cargo D. tesorera desD. hace 4 meses, tiene 57 años, es casada, tiene 4 hijos, D. los cuales tres viven con ella. Martha actualmente tiene un Colegio Educativo llamado Alfonso Sagardia Marillas desD. hace 8 años en su domicilio, se inicio en este negocio porque quería dar una mejor calidad educativa a los niños, nos cuenta que empezó con solo 12 niños en una cas D. madera. Con el esfuerzo D. su labor ha logrado mejorar la educación y la infraestructura del colegio, y su calidad D. vida.
El reciente préstamo será utilizado para mejorar la infraestructura del colegio, nuestros socios se sienten muy agradecidos por el apoyo recibido y se comprometen en la puntualidad D. sus pagos.

EDAPROSPO seeks to use micro-credit to foster productive commercial activity for the sake of economic and social development within vulnerable urban and rural sectors traditionally neglected by commercial banks. By offering innovative products such as technical education loans and microfinance groups for young people, EDAPROSPO helps disadvantaged Peruvians lift themselves out of poverty.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
