Gloria Maribel's story

In the outskirts of Portoviejo we find the Caminantes de Cristo Communal Bank which meet every fifteen days. Here we found Mrs. Gloria, she is 28 years old, is married and has three children out of this relationship, she remembers with sadness the loss of her last child that died when it was two months old but God have her a new blessing since she is in her third month of pregnancy. Gloria was born in Carmen but has lived for the last 10 years in this beautiful city, her husband is a taxi driver.

Some years ago, Gloria learned about beauty and now she does this in her home, although she doesn’t have a beauty salon, her customers come and she paints their nails, cuts and colors their hair among other things since she doesn’t have the tools to do more. Gloria also sells Yanbal products (beauty products and perfume) which she delivers in the evenings and Saturdays her husband takes her to collect the money.

With this loan, Gloria wants to buy everything necessary to set up her beauty salon and to be able to give better service to her customers. She is a founding member of her Communal Bank and enjoys the benefits that she gets from the institution.

Gloria’s dreams are that her baby is born healthy and to have her own beauty shop.
