A loan of $1,100 helped purchase spare auto parts.

Melida Eudocia's story

The Mujeres Unidas (United Women) Microfinance Group meets in the San Alejo residential community of the beautiful city of Portoviejo, the capital of the Manabi province, which is known for its gorgeous beaches that are visited by both national and international tourists.

Here we found Ms. Melida, age 74. She became a widow several years ago; her husband and life-partner passed away 5 years ago, though she states that the wounds of his departure still hurt her heart. She has three grown children who have their own families. One of her daughters lives with her.

She has an auto parts shop, and works with her daughter from 8:00am until 5:00pm. She has been in business for 14 years, and she brings the auto parts all the way from Guayaquil and Quito.

She has been a member of this microfinance group for 4 years, and she likes the way it is organized. Furthermore, she likes the benefits that the institution offers. She will utilize this loan in purchasing more auto parts so that she can have everything that her customers need.

Her goal is to keep expanding her business as long as God gives her strength.
