A loan of $3,100 helped a member to buy fruits and vegetables.

Malumbo Group's story

Kulwa S. is in his mid forties. He is married and has four children. Kulwa has been running a food stall since 1999. He sells fruits and vegetables. The stall is open daily between 6 am and 6 pm. Kulwa earns a good monthly profit from his business.

This will be Kulwa's second Mothisha loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. (A Mothisha loan is a product offered by Tujijenge Tanzania that allows borrowers with good credit ratings to pay back their original loans faster and receive extra money before their original loan term has ended.) Kulwa used his first loan to increase his stock of vegetables, and he plans to do the same with his second loan. Kulwa also plans to use the loan to buy new types of fruits and vegetables. Kulwa's dream is to open another food stall in the near future.

Kulwa will share the loan with his loan group called Malumbo, which has 12 members. The members of the group will hold each other responsible for repaying the loans.
