A loan of $425 helped to buy more products to sell at his home-based grocery store (rice, beer, soft drinks, flour, etc).

Manuel's story

Born in the town of Tete, in the province of the same name in Northern Mozambique, Manuel H. is married and lives with his family in a house they own. Due to financial constraints, his studies were interrupted in 5th Grade. He left Tete for Maputo 10 years ago, in search of a better life, and since then has been running a small home-based grocery store. Since he doesn't have any employees working for him, he is able to make 5.000.00mt per month. After paying for household expenses, each month Manuel is able to save some money in the bank. He had never taken out any loans before learning about Hluvuku from a neighbor. This is his third loan with the institution. He plans to use the 15.000.00mt to by more products to sell (rice, beer, soft drinks, flour, etc). He's confident in his ability to pay back his loan and plans to continue applying for loans with Hluvuku in the future, to improve his business.
