A loan of $1,000 helped to buy food and household stock for her shop.

Olivia's story

Olivia M. D. M. is 40 years old and lives in San Juan Opico, La Libertad department. She lives together with her two children who are aged 18 and 20 years. They study and help Olivia with the household chores. She has a shop selling basic necessities such as everyday food items. Olivia is a very happy and amiable person who works hard to get ahead and to be able to live a decent life. She has run the shop from her home for 12 years and she is well known in her local area. Despite a high level of competition, she is always people’s preferred place to go to as everyone is confident in her. Olivia is asking for a loan so that she can buy the necessary stock for her business: grains, detergents, disinfectants, bread, milk, eggs, dairy products and all of the things that her customers come into her shop asking for. Also Olivia wants to be able to introduce new products for which there is high demand, such as sweets and drinks, which will be sure to increase her sales. This is her main priority as she will then be able to have a more stable home life.
