Magali Asunción's story

In the outskirts of the city of Km 5 via Manta, you find the Loma De Los Vientos Community Bank. The members meet every two weeks, in a place where people are mainly engaged in agriculture and in breeding animals.

Mrs. Magaly is 35 years of age and has been married for 13 years. She has two children (14 and 11 years of age), who are attending school. Her husband works as a temporary laborer.

Magaly is a breeder of chickens and has a small poultry farm. She tells us that during her buying season, she buys one to two hundred chickens which are bred for two to three months. Then when the time for selling arrives, she prepares them and delivers them to some shops in Portoviejo and sells them by the pound. She works three to four hours a day feeding and caring for her animals and then most of the day when she has to deliver her products.

This new loan is going to used to buy as many chickens as she can, because Christmas time is approaching and this particular season is very good for business. This is her fourth term with the bank and Magaly is happy because it has helped her a great deal.

Her dream is to open her own store and to continue to provide the best for her children.
