La Buena Nueva 1, 2 &3 Group's story

Walquiris is one of the members of the Grupo La Buena Nueva 1, 2, y 3 (The Good New Group 1, 2, and 3), located in Los Alcarrizos, a growing community on the outskirts of the Santo Domingo province, north of the city. It's an industrial area with a large population. The group's main activities are selling clothes, shoes, cosmetics, and bread, etc. Walquiris is a young businesswoman who lives with her husband and son. She tells us that her greatest challenge is finishing college and her favorite activitiy is studying.

Walquiris is very excited to receive her ninth loan with Kiva partner Esperanza Internacional, after having satisfactorily paid off her earlier loans, and with each one made a step toward growing her business. She has had her business for about four years, which she started because of her intitiative to make money and be useful. Plans are to use her new loan to purchase a flower mixer or processer. She makes breads and sponge cakes, and she is a baker. She plans to use her earnings to purchase a refrigerator. Her dream is to become an educator, which is why she wants to finish college.
