A loan of $4,225 helped a member to purchase perfumes and shoes.

Fe En Dios 4, 5 & 6 Group's story

Georgina is one of the members of the Grupo Fe en Dios 4, 5, & 6 [Faith in God 4, 5 & 6 Group] composed of 13 women and two men, owners of microenterprises in the areas of clothing sales, natural product sales, shoe and jewelry sales, etc. Her family is made up of her, her partner and three children of whom two still live with them. She tells us her favorite activity is eating, so she enjoys every mealtime.

Georgina is very excited to receive her Second loan with Esperanza Internacional, after having satisfactorily paid off her previous loan and taken another step for the growth of her business. She has had her business for around 15 years and began by selling pieces of gold jewelry. Georgina is planning to invest her new loan in the purchase of 15 units of perfume and ten pairs of shoes. She is going to use her earnings to build a new room in her living quarters and to contribute to the household income. Her dream is to be able to travel to various countries and buy merchandise abroad. She sees her dream as very easy to fulfill if she is dedicated and continues developing her business through the loans.

This associate of Esperanza obtained a loan with us because she had the desire to do better and continue injecting capital into her business. Her story is being used to represent the other members of the group and the clients of Esperanza, both Haitians (who for the most part have emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haití, some of them recently) and the Dominicans, who in general live in very poor communities. This area, like many other areas of scarce resources in the Dominican Republic, is lacK. in safe drinK. water and dependable electrical service. This group is located in the low-resource area of Samana, a developing tourist destination bordered by the coast of the Atlantic Ocean with beautiful beaches and rich in natural resources.
