A loan helped purchase bundles of clothing.

Fatima Juliao's story

Fátima Julião N. was born in the District of Inhassoro, Province of Inhambane in the south of Mozambique. She is the mother of two children who attend school. She only finished fifth grade, and didn't continue due to her parents' financial difficulties. She lives in her own house with her family and has no other dependents.

She left Inhassoro for Maputo with her husband. She has had her own business selling new and used clothing for more than ten years; she has no employees and manages to earn an income of about 4,000 to 5,000 MT per month, which she uses for household expenses and still manages to set some aside every week in the xitique (traditional rotational savings system).

Fátima has already had loans from other banks. She got to know about Hluvuku through a friend who is also a client of this institution. This is her fifth loan — at a value of 10,000 MT — with which she plans to purchase bundles of clothing to increase the quantity of her merchandise. The previous loans were for 5,000 MT, 7,000 MT, 9,000 MT, and 10,000 MT, and were used for the same purpose.

She is confident that she will repay without any problem and will ask for a new loan in order to continue with the improvement of her business.
