TARMA, Peru / Retail

A loan of $550 helped buy gifts and articles for the home for resale; furnish her hairdresser's shop.

Blanca's story

Blanca, who is 39 years old, is a very happy woman. She is married to Caparachin, who is 40, and they live with their three children, Bryan, who is 15, Gimena, 7, and Florentino, who is 18 months old. As a large family, they live in a rented house located in the district of Unión. Blanca's farmlands are located twelve kilometers from the city of Tarma (Peru). For 10 years she has planted potatoes, beans, and corn, which she then sells in the central market of Tarma. Very early every morning she goes to her fields, where she cares for and applies fertilizer to her plantings. Here she waits anxiously for the arrival of evening, since when she returns to her house, she opens her little hairdresser's shop, where she not only cuts hair but also sells a variety of articles for the home, which people buy for gifts when they are celebrating a holiday. Blanca's business is very profitable, since she has a good income. For this reason, she is thinking of building her own house in the future and having a larger space to attend to her customers, who anxiously wait for her arrival every night.

This is her fourth loan with MFP and she is happy to be able to participate and support, along with her community bank, other people who want to advance themselves like she does. With the loan that she is applying for, she will invest in the purchase of gifts so that she will have a greater variety for her customers. She will also furnish her hairdresser's shop with new equipment.
