A loan of $550 helped for the purchase of fertilizer for coffee planting and to pay staff that will help her in the next planting season.

Elva's story

Elva, 53, is a strong and happy woman. She is married to Nicanor, 52 years old. Together they have six children, but only live with two of them: Madai, who is 18 years old and Vian, who is seven years old. They live in a rented house in the central jungle (Yurinaki). Since she was a child, Elva has dedicated herself to agriculture, “the fields are my life,” she affirms. Back then she helped work the land, and as a young person she earned enough so that at 19 she bought her own plot of land. Since then she has planted coffee, plantains and corn.

Presently, Elva has a small house in the native community Centro Pumpuriani. She travels there every weekend to take care of her plot of land. When her crops are ripe, she sells them in her city's (Yurinaki) central market. In the coming months she will put together the necessary capital to buy a car so that she will be able to regularly transport herself to her land.

This is her fourth loan with MFP [Microfinanzas Prisma]. She likes to work with her communal bank because they help her invest and progress. With the requested loan, she will invest in fertilizer for the coffee that she is cultivating. She will also pay the staff that will help her in the next crop planting season.
