A loan of $3,050 helped a member purchase electrical appliances.

Gotitas De Agua Group's story

The Collpani Community Center is located in one of the most remote areas in the region and hosts more than one hundred Communal Associations. One of the oldest is “Gotitas de Agua” (Water Droplets), which has completed 21 loan cycles in the program. The group is currently in loan cycle #22 with eight members, seven women and one man.

The Board of Directors for this group consists of Sra. Sonia (President), Sra. Elsa (Treasurer), and Sra. Carmen (Secretary). The treasurer, Sra. Elsa, has participated in the programs of Pro Mujer for five years. She says she joined the organization after being invited by some of her friends. Elsa has been in the business of selling electrical appliances for eight years. Nobody taught her how to operate such a business, so she had to learn little by little. Her first loan was in the amount of 800 BOB, but now she is requesting 2000 BOB. In both cases, her goal was to acquire more merchandise. She conducts her sales in the District of Villa Dolores between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Her husband assists her during the long work day.

When asked what she likes most about Pro Mujer, Elsa says she enjoys having loans for her business. In addition, she states the health clinic is excellent.

There are different businesses represented by this Communal Association. These include retail establishments that sell appliances, sweaters, pork, decorations, soft drinks, and candy.

In this group: Elsa, Paulina, Irene, Emiliana, Monica Maria, Leon Felipe, Carmen Rosa, Sonia
