Arcoiris De Lerma Group's story

This group is called “Arcoíris de Lerma” (Rainbow of Lerma) and one of its members is Sra. Elvia T.. She is 50 years old and says she has five children and nine grandchildren. Her husband is named Andrés Martínez Alvarado and has worked as a mason for 30 years. Elvia has a business selling clothes, candy, and fritters. At first she made her living by growing and harvesting corn, kidney beans, and lima beans. She also made tortillas, raised cows and horses, and took in clothes to launder and iron. With the loans she is now able to generate more profits from her business. Elvia dreams of seeing her grandchildren have a better quality of life.

Another member of this group is Sra. Mónica Martínez T., who is Sra. Elvia’s daughter. Mónica is 22 years old and has a five year old son. She works as a nail technician, but she also performs eyebrow shaping and eyelash curling. Mónica is currently studying to become a professional stylist. Her loan will be invested in materials. With the subsequent loans she plans to receive, she hopes to build a salon where she can set up her aesthetics practice.
