A loan of $2,800 helped a member increasing the amount of charcoal to market in the hopes of saving some money.

Vyizigiro Group's story

Odette N. is a merchant, aged 38, who lives in the urban community of Kamenge in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi. She has been doing commerce in charcoal for four years, whereas she used to sell staple foods before. Odette is a widow. She has an only child, aged 19, who is in his ninth year of secondary studies.

Odette has achieved her thirteenth community loan cycle with Turame. She is asking for a Turname-Kiva loan in order to increase the amount of charcoal to sell in the hopes of saving some money. She has always preferred Turname loans because they are easy to obtain and flexible in their repayment. This is contrary to the other financial institutions in the area.

Odette is part of the community group Vyizigiro.
