Irembo Group's story

Dorothée M. is a 58-year-old retailer who lives in the Kamenge district of Bujumbura. She is a widow and the mother of two independent, adult children. Dorothée did not attend school. She has been selling all kinds of clothes for 25 years. She is currently in the 8th cycle of community credit with the Turame MFI. Dorothée is seeking credit through Kiva to bolster her capital in order to import clothes from Uganda, thereby increasing her stocks, and hopefully, boosting her profits. She hopes to have more capital in the future, which would enable her to run a large business. She also hopes that the savings from her business will help to finish construction on her house. Dorothée is a member of the Irembo community group.
