Pictured here are members of the “Tamemsu Development” group from Magburaka, a town in northern Sierra Leone. They are petty-businesspeople who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to seek a loan of SLL 800,000 for each member of the group. With this loan, they will be able to add more goods to their businesses, attract more customers, make more sales and profit and consequently, improve their living conditions.

The leader of this group of entrepreneurs is Ramatu C.. Ramatu was born in Makonteh village 45 years ago. She is married and has three children. Her husband is a trader and all three of her children are attending secondary school.

Ramatu sells firewood and has been a businesswoman for 20 years now. She will use her share of the loan to buy a large quantity of firewood to sell.
