Som's story

Som S., 54, is married and resides with her husband and four children in Prey Veng province, Cambodia, an area known for its business with Vietnam. Som sells porridge for an income of 5 USD per day. Her four children are employed at different workplaces, earning an income of about 2 USD per day to help cover the family expenses.

Som is requesting a loan, her first from CREDIT, a long-standing Kiva partner in Cambodia, of 1000 USD to purchase construction materials to help with one of the children’s businesses. In the future, she would like to use any additional profit to repair her house.
