Born in 1960, Mrs. Sam T. is married to Mr. Ben Sor (in the photo with Sam), and they live in Si Sla village in Takeo province. Sam is the mother of six children; four are attending school, one is a driver, and the other is helping with their parents’ businesses. Sam is a farmer who owns a one-hectare plot of land upon which she cultivates rice to sell to support her family, while her husband is a fisherman and farm laborer.

Sam has a problem in that it is time to work her rice field, but she does not have enough money to do so. Sam is thus requesting a loan to buy rice seed, fertilizer and pesticides, and hire farm laborers. With the remainder of the loan she wants to buy a bicycle for her children to ride to school.
