A loan of $900 helped to buy creams, perfumes, cosmetics, costume jewelry, etc.

María Auxiladora's story

In the beautiful city of Portoviejo, capital of the Manabí province, surrounded by marvelous beaches and with a climate that is warm and pleasant, we find the community bank called "8th of May", which meets every 15 days. María is 29 years old and has been married for 5 years. This good relationship has resulted in three children aged 4 and 2 and one beautiful little one of 10 months old. Her husband works in the Coactur office (a transport cooperative) in Guayaquil. She works selling products from the brands Yanbal, Esika and Avon (who sell beauty products and perfume.) She sells items that her customers order through her. She works Monday to Friday for three hours a day and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. On these days she collects the money owed to her from the previous week or two. She likes her work because she has time to care for her small children. This loan will be used to buy more products, especially those that are on offer. Later, when the offer is over, she can sell these for full price and earn much more. She has been with the community bank for 4 loan cycles and she likes how quickly she can access loans. Her dreams are to keep growing her business and to become the regional director for Avon.
