Union Group's story

James M., who is holding the sign, is the leader of this group of five borrowers called Union. He is 55 years old and married. James has four children whose ages are between 11 and 21 years. He was only able to attend school through first grade due to financial constraints. For 12 years, he has been selling tailoring materials such as needles, thread, zips, cloth, etc., in the Chicken-soup Community Market outside of Monrovia, Liberia. He plans to use his 6,000-Liberian-Dollars portion of this 30,000-Liberian-Dollars group loan to buy more tailoring materials such as needles, thread, zips, cloth, etc. He describes himself as a good man whose dream is to improve his business and build a house.
