Enterprising and trustworthy T. Patrick of Ntara multi purpose group and aged 35, started up his hardware business over 2 years ago dealing in general building merchandise. Being strategically located in Ntara trading centre Ibanda, he gets many customers, earning him a profit of 400.000 Ugandan shillings monthly. Patrick employs two casual labourers who help him with work in the shop, like lifting cement bags and iron bars. His main drawback is having small stock that cannot match the demand from the customers.

With this loan, he hopes to buy more stock of goods for the business, and this will help him expand business market and also earn more sales revenue to cater for the requirements of his family, educate his children, and also be able to progress economically.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
