A loan of $1,675 helped a member the purchase of candies.

Fuente De Vida Group's story

The communal association "Fuente de Vida" (Fountain of Life) is beginning its first loan cycle. It is made up of 8 members, seven women and one man. The board of directors is made up of Mrs. Claudina as president, Mrs. Valentina as treasurer, and Lourdes as recording secretary.

Mrs. Lourdes registers what happens in the association during the payment meeting from the expenditure to the last payment of the loan cycle. At the moment she can either leave the position or be re-elected. In spite of being a young 23 year old and not having much experience, she is willing to learn. For this first loan cycle she requests 500 Bolivianos (Bolivian currency) to buy candies and begin a new business. She plans to sell Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In the association are other members with other businesses: a local store, a panel beater shop, a minibus helper, an individual who sells food, and and one who sews blankets.

In this group: Lourdes, Maria, Valentina, Sara, Claudina, Aida, Elio, Doris*
