Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped fertilizer.

Filadelfo Rigoberto's story

Filadelfo Rigoberto Barragán G. is 27 years old, single, and lives in the San Miguel district in Bolívar province. He has two children. Filadelfo is a member of a group in the rural area of San Isidro, located an hour and a half from San Miguel. There are 10 group members and the majority of them work cultivating corn and wheat. Filadelfo works in agriculture to support his family. He mainly grows corn, beans, tomatoes and wheat. He buys and sells his produce in the San Pablo market.

He is asking for a loan to buy fertilizer. With the support of the loan he can give his children an education. His dream for next 5 years is to provide an education for his children and buy land to build a house. This year the weather harmed his crops. He hopes the loan will help him recover this year.

He likes to bowl and go out with his family.
