United Group's story

Helena K., who is holding the sign, is the leader of this group of five borrowers called the United Group. She is 33 years old and married with five children who are between the ages of 2 and 18 years. She was only able to attend school through 10th grade due to financial constraints.

For three years, she has been selling ladies blouses in the Waterside Market in downtown Monrovia, Liberia. She plans to use her 6,000-Liberian-Dollars portion of this 30,000-Liberian-Dollars group loan to buy more dozens of ladies blouses.

She describes herself as a friendly woman whose dream is to improve her business and to continue to educate her children so that they can have a better future.
