A loan of $725 helped buy a collar machine and a serger.

Alicia's story

Alicia Gracia R. is a young woman whose work is making blouses. She has worked in this business for a long time. At the beginning she had only a simple sewing machine, a lot of energy, and the support of her family. Gradually she managed to acquire her flat-bed sewing machine and her serger, and thus she has continued growing her business until she had a workshop infrastructure that produced profits, with which she can acquire everything necessary to support her three children, of ages 4 months, 7, and 9. For this reason, her dream is to grow and strengthen her workshop in order to have a future with better well-being and more opportunities for her family.

With her Kiva loan, which is her first, she will buy a collar machine and a serger. With them she will be able to improve the quality and time in production, in addition to decreasing the cost of production, since she hires these services and has to pay transportation to obtain them. Now her greatest challenge is keeping up with production, which grows every day, since she does not have the machines that her work requires or the time that she needs to dedicate to her little children. But she knows that she is building the family future, and this is precisely why she works hard.
