A loan of $2,800 helped a member to fix up her own house.

Mrs. Prum Ngim Village Bank Group's story

Twenty-two people make up this village bank loan located in Putthi Sam village in Takeo province. Mrs. Prum N., 40 years old, is the village bank president, selected by the other members who will each use their portion of the loan for different purposes. She is a farmer who owns a half-hectare plot of land to cultivate rice on to sell to support her family while her husband, Mr. Soy Kem, is a rickshaw driver.

She has a problem because her home is uncomfortable to live in. So, to improve this condition, Mrs. Prum N. is asking for a loan to fix up her own house. She is a mother of two children, one of whom is a laborer, and the other is attending school. (The man in the back wearing a baseball cap is not a village bank member.)
