A loan of $1,850 helped a member to buy wool.

Polleritas Group's story

The “POLLERITAS” communal bank is starting its second cycle; they are in the consolidation phase. It has 8 members, seven women and one man. The governing board consists of a President, a Treasurer and a Recording Secretary.

Aurelia, like the rest of the members, is in her second cycle willing to improve the record of the first cycle. Besides, as President her challenge is to motivate her association.

The business she’s in is sweater weaving. She first learned as a weaving assistant but has had her own business now for four years.

The first loan was for Bs.2000 and it was used to buy wool. This second loan request is for Bs.1000 to buy raw materials.

Sales take place at the 16 de Julio market from 6am until 8pm. She has a woman who helps her with the weaving.

When she is asked what she likes about Pro Mujer she indicates that it’s the savings.

The other group members have their own businesses: food sales, ice-cream sales, broom sales, blanket weaving.

In this group: Aurelia, Justina, Gloria, Jenny Jannete, Luis , Rosmery Silveria, Benita, Justa Julia
