Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped dyes, appliances.

Evelyn Leonela's story

Evelyn has a beauty salon in a part of her house that she built for her business. She lives in an area on th eoutskirts of town called Perimetral. It is surrounded by the salt wedge of Guayaquil.

She started to study hair styling when she was very young and little by little began to establish her business, since she really like this activity to be able to support her two children. Her mother helps her with the business on a rotating schedule. To generate more income, she does styling in people's home.

With the loan, she wants to buy dyes and appliances for her beauty salon. In the future, she wants to have a well supplied hair salon to be able to have money to give a better life to her children.
